APPROACHING ADDRIENNE RICH’S MOTHER RIGHT POETRY USING FEMINIST ANALYSIS: INTRODUCTION

      “Wife is a sun for a husband and Mother is a star for children.” Wife and mother is woman. There are a lot of “highly-praise” word presented to woman nowadays. Changing is real. Woman are now respected, moreover there are a lot of women runs important position.

          Woman movement has nearly come to the end. Even though women are now in freedom, basically there is small amount of woman who still fight for their right in this modern era. Then the feminism and its feminist followers battle for the equality toward man.

          Feminism is a belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. The movement organized around this belief. Feminism can be defined as a recognition and critique of male supremacy combined with efforts to change it. The original history of feminist movement are found in the abolitionist movement of the 1830’s; Seneca Falls, New York is said to be the birthplace of American feminism. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott spearheaded the first Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848.

          Adrienne Cecile Rich is an American poet, essayist and feminist. She has been called “one of the most widely read and influential poets of the second half of the 20th century. She belongs to socialist-feminism. She wrote lot of poetries due to woman’s inferiority issues in her life time. One of her best poetry is “mother right” which is written in 1974.
